AEP is an active advocate within the communities we serve and with government agencies like the National Low Income Energy Consortium (NLIEC), National Fuel Fund Network (NFFN), and local agencies within: Home Energy Assistance Programs (HEAP), and Health & Human Services (HHS).

In many states, AEP partners with other agencies to support customer assisted programs:

  • Neighbor to Neigbor in Tennessee, Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana, Ohio and Texas
  • Light a Life in Oklahoma
  • West Virginia Utility Assistance in West Virginia Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) and PIPP Graduate Plus in Ohio
  • Winter Protection Program in Indiana and Michigan
  • All states offer Average Monthly Payment Plan (AMP) - assist customers with level billing with a slight adjustment monthly
  • All states offer Extended Credit Payment Plans - assist with arrears plus bill each month Some states offer Budget Billing Payment Plans - level billing with annual settle-up payment
